Checked 16 October 2026 against Konami's free-app page, history and anniversary announcement. The claim window is still open. September store sales have ended; the orchestral concerts are planned for spring 2027, not already held.
What Konami scheduled
The official free-app page gives a claim window from 25 September 2026 through 24 October 2026, 23:59 JST. It says players who download during that window can continue downloading and playing afterward. External game controllers are not supported. This is the NES original on iOS and Android, not a browser game or Belmont's Curse.
The official history dates the Japanese Family Computer Disk System release to 26 September 1986. The anniversary page marks 26 September 2026 as the 40th anniversary. The European news article's isolated 1993 date conflicts with these first-party pages and is not used.
Konami's anniversary announcement advertised PlayStation sales for 23 September–7 October 2026 and Steam sales for 24 September–1 October 2026. Both have ended as of this check. It also announced Castlevania Black & Red for streaming from 26 September and orchestral concerts planned for spring 2027 in London, Tokyo and Los Angeles; it does not establish completed concerts or current ticket availability.
The video is Konami's anniversary celebration upload, linked by the publisher's announcement. YouTube metadata gives 24 September 2026 at 19:50:47 PDT, which is 25 September in UTC and Japan. The video timestamp is not the mobile promotion's start time.
The new game is not the free app
Konami dates Belmont's Curse to 15 October 2026, and Steam US metadata marks it available. The full and filtered Steam responses checked here differ on 14 versus 15 October, so they do not establish one worldwide release date.
