Castlevania in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Last updated . Sources are linked in the text.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate includes Simon and Richter as fighters. Richter is Simon's Echo Fighter; these are characters in a platform fighter, not ports of their source games.

Which game and which fighters?

The relevant title is Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for Nintendo Switch, not an unspecified later Smash entry. Simon is fighter 66 and Richter is 66e, his Echo Fighter. They belong to the base-game roster, not a paid Castlevania Challenger Pack.
Nintendo describes Richter's basic attacks as the same as Simon's with subtle variations. Their source characters are hunters, but Smash rules and balance should not be used to rank their power in Castlevania lore.

Stage, music and source games

Dracula's Castle is the Castlevania stage. The official stage and music directories distinguish this guest content from a complete Castlevania adventure.
For Simon's games choose Anniversary. For Richter's Rondo choose Requiem on PlayStation. Buying Smash does not grant either collection.

Questions

Is Richter just a Simon costume?

No. Nintendo lists him separately as Simon's Echo Fighter, with closely related attacks.

Do I buy a Castlevania DLC fighter pack?

No. Simon and Richter are in Ultimate's base roster; they may still need to be unlocked in the game.
